Coloring Sheets: Find the Hardware

In this activity, learners will be shown a coloring sheet with a mix of hardware items and non-hardware items. They will be asked to color in just the images of hardware items to show that they can correctly identify these. There are five different variations of the coloring sheets so that learners can practice more than once.

Instructions

  1. Print out the Learner’s Sheet pages.
  2. Gather your coloring supplies.
  3. Tell your learner about this activity: “Today, we’re going to see how well you can identify hardware items. You’re going to color in the images on these pages, but only the ones that are images of hardware. If you accidentally color in an image that is not hardware, that’s okay! You can just circle the hardware items instead to show that you know which images are which. Have fun!”
  4. Have your learner start coloring based on these instructions and let them know to tell you when they are all done.
  5. Check their work based on the answer key provided in the next section.
  6. Go over any errors with your learner.
  7. Congratulate your learner on a job well done!
  8. Have your learner complete the other coloring sheets to keep practicing. You may also have them repeat any of the coloring sheets if they need additional practice.

Bonus Challenge
For an extra challenge, ask your learner to name the hardware items that they colored in on the sheet and to explain to you what they do.
